Doctoral students are the next generation of professionals to continue research and academic excellence in the field of gifted and talented education. Dr. Carolyn Callahan, director of the University of Virginia National Research Center on the Gifted and Talented, has done research across a broad range of topics in gifted education including identification, program assessments, gifted program frameworks, among others. In addition to serving as a mentor for doctoral students, she has authored gifted education standards, served on numerous editorial boards, and consulted with hundreds of public school districts on their gifted programs.
